Heinlahden Veistämö (Heinlahti Boatyard) was fouded by Erik Anton Kiiski in 1928.
1930’s Heinlahden Veistämö built altogether 127 Hai (Hajen)-class sailboats for racing – more that half of the entire class production. During the most hectic years up to six boats were completed annually. The last Hai boats were exported to the United States
Heinlahden Veistämö exported later also motor boats to the United States. During the years 1955 – 1960 more than 200 boats found the owners in USA. During those years a new product was developed – the Heinlahti – type motor boat. This was a success up to 1960´s.
Jaakko Kiiski started to manage Heinlahden Veistämö in 1946. The young manager had already gained lots of experience in building both sail boats as well as motor boats – all made of wood. Heinlahden Veistämö had always been involved to develop, design and construct fast motor boats, which were famous during Finnish prohibition act. This was basis for famous Kiiski’s racer boats.
Jaakko Kiiski was never interested on fishing or sailing. However thanks to Jaakko’s interest in engines connected to the Heinlahden Veistämö’s traditions with fast boats formed basis to one of the most successful boat racers during those years.
Jaakko Kiiski started the design of the most wellknown boat type – Tiiskeri in late 1960’s. The first Tiiskeri made of solid mahogany was launched 1970. Since the first launching more than 150 Tiiskeri motor boats have been delivered.
Tiiskeri was very successful design. Boat owners learned to know Tiiiskeri as fast, durable, strong and very seaworthy boat.
In the beginning the material was mahogany. Later on the material has been changed to reinforced glass fibre and polyester. However, the interiors are still of mahogany.
Heinlahden veistämö was reorganized 2004 as limited company. Timo Kiiski was appointed as Managing Director.
